  3. Assalamu Alaykum, Javeria from Islamabad. Alhamdulilah have been using your tooth paste recipe and Alhamdulilah kids are using it without a fuss. I made a batch yesterday but when i used it later, it was quite hard. Its very cold here in Islamabad and the coconut oil was hard ..i had to microwave it to use it in the recipe. So any ideas what to do now to make the toothpaste soft and spreadable? Another question i had was about the egg shell powder. i make the powder in the small blender i have but its still not 'powder' form. it comes in between teeth. Was wandering if there is any other way to make it into powder and one thing i was wondering was about its safety. If its swallowed, will it cause any harm like kidney stone since its still in the form of small granules instead of powder.

    1. Wa alekum assalam J,

Please let me start by apologizing first for my tardy reply. Thank you for the interest and trust that you're showing in my posts.
As far as the hardening of the toothpaste is concerned, you may use any other liquid oil to form a paste, with the only suggestion that choose the one with the least outstanding taste and be careful to add very little at a time.
I chop my egg shells in a chopper so I can't really imagine how it would look chopped in a blender but I have tried crushing it in a pestle and mortar(the big wooden one) and it turned out quite fine especially after sieving it. If you're still not satisfied just go for the calcium/magnesium supplements, crush them and add them to your paste.
Regarding the safety of ingesting egg shells I would just like to mention that my grandmother was used to give us a daily dose of 1/2 tsp of dried and chopped eggshells as a calcium supplement and we never complained of any ailments as a result of it. Nevertheless I took a look on the net regarding this issue and have found that eggshells are completely digested in the stomach(think of how vinegar dissolves the shell and stomach acid is more acidic than vinegar) and turns out it's even an antacid so as far as I'm concerned I am completely at ease, but once again I must mention, if there is still any doubt in your mind regarding this, just switch to the store bought supplements.

      Hope this helped ,Amna
